Background Information

I’m Profoundly Deaf but I can lip-read, talk to anyone, do BSL and SSE. I’m a keen, hard worker and enjoy socialising with people. I’m very cheerful and keen to help other people and like to keep myself busy.

How did you come to choose to work alongside the Deaf /Deafblind?

I chose to work alongside Deaf/Deafblind people because I am Deaf myself as well as I had wonderful help and support throughout my life. I would like to do the same and pass the experience I received to other Deaf people and encourage them to enjoy their independence like I did.

Hobbies and Interests

My hobbies include spending time with my family and friends. I love watching sport especially football, really enjoy going out walking and shopping. I also like going to leisure center to swim or do a gym workout. I also really enjoy doing cooking and spending time with animals at the farm and zoo.

What relevant qualifications do you possess?

I am fully qualified BSL Level 3.

I can do BSL sign language or SSE or talking to anyone that I can lip-read to.

Currently on numerous training courses online via Care Skills Academy.

What’s your favourite colour?
My favourite colour is blue as it's nice soft, soothing and relaxing.

Tell me an interesting story:

I've met many celebrities and collected lots of autographs. My dream is the have my own cinema or sports room to put my collection up.

My favourite thing is:

My favorite thing is helping other people and putting a smile on their face. As being Deaf myself, I had wonderful support throughout my whole life amazingly and I would like to use that same experience to other people and enjoy the support like I did received in the past.

I don't like: 

Reptiles like spiders, snakes and frogs because they are so creepy and weird.

​

What frightens you?

I am frightened of reptiles - these are too spooky and scary.​

Do you like Marmite?

I like marmite on something like jacket potatoes, but that's it.

​

Do you keep ketchup in the fridge or cupboard?

I keep ketchup in the fridge as said on the label once opened.
